Karan Bush Karan's watercolor, "Yellow Magnolias," won the 2009 Stanwood-Camano Arts Guild Spring Art Show Poster Competition, by vote of the membership at the April, 2009 meeting. Artist's statement: "I love the way sunlight plays on an object and the interesting colors that the light reveals while it changes subtly with each passing moment. Vivid and rich or soft and subtle, it is often the luminosity and transparency of flower petals that capture my heart and why I feel compelled to paint them." "Along with my art, I am also an avid gardener and plant collector and therefore bring my gardening subjects into my art . Also, some of the wildlife that are resident here in the Northwest find their way into may art too. I strive to produce paintings that are alive, yet delicately detailed."
