From 1:00 to 3:00 on Saturday, July 15th, catch the inventive acappela trio Mockingbird, consisting of Robin Wallbridge, Sherrie Lutsch and Lesley Rigg on tight harmony vocals. They brew their own songs, both humorous and heartfelt, about daily life, tolerance, unity, and peace. Here's a partial review of their third CD: “We3, by the trio Mockingbird, stays fresh and interesting and delightful from start to finish, and more remarkably, does so without the sound effects and schtick that even some of the big names resort to.” –Tom Petersen, Victory Review, September 2004. From 10:00 to Noon on Sunday, July 16th, Campbell Road presents original and traditional tunes from Ireland, Scotland, and many other places around the world. The band’s four members play multiple instruments, including flute, whistle, bodhran, claves, fiddle, bouzouki, djembe, guitar, banjo, various percussion instruments, and vocals. Campbell Road has recorded three CDs, By Blood or Marriage, Bare Bones, and, In Spite of Wind & Weather. From Noon to 2:00 on Sunday, July 16th, The South End String Band, Camano Island’s own “fiddle tune big band,” comprises eleven local musicians on fiddle, guitars, banjos, dulcimers, autoharp, percussion, washboard, sandpaper and even easel. The band plays music everybody knows, and peppers each performance with a generous helping of down-home wit and wisdom, served up by “spiritual advisor,” Skeeter Daddle.
