Click here to see photos from the event. It was the best year ever, with lots of high-quality art and fine craft, as well as whimsical garden art and plants. Represented media included: Acrylics, Apparel, Baskets, Bead Art, Candles, Ceramics, Drawings, Glass, Herbs, Jewelry, Kaleidoscopes, Birdhouses, Metalwork, Oil Paintings, Photography, Plants, Stained Glass, Stonework, Watercolors, Woodwork, and much much more. A letter from festival director, Connie Hevly: To all the Guild members who worked so hard to make ABB the success that it was. WE DID GOOD,AGAIN. 3,000 patrons was probably our highest count, probably leveling off at 2,000. No figures this year. Sales in 2005 were $98,000 with 110 vendors. This year sales estimates are 108,000 with 124 vendors. Breakdown in sales roughly looks like this: $0-$499 – 1/3; $500-$999 – 1/3 $1,000-$2,999 - 1/3, with another 6 vendors with sales between $3-5,000. Of the 61 returning vendors, ½ of them reported sales higher than last year. Only 4 vendors are not planning on returning next year. Things went smoothly – no calamities. That’s GOOD! A majority of the vendors parked at our Island County site or were dropped off. (There really wouldn’t have been room at the County Offices for all of them.) Renting the Community Center for parking is a godsend. And what we’d do without Bob, the Custodian, I don’t know. Thank You, Thank You !!!!: to - Mark Dodge, who spent countless hours on publicity, posters, postcards, flyers – as well as music - Jeanine Borree, and my husband, Jack – who were willing to do anything that needed to be done - Poster Chair Libby Michailoff – and all of you who posted posters -Tim Dangler & Norm Kearsley for putting up & taking down signs -Signmakers Bev Paulson and Juanita Hagberg -The Vendor Guides -Phone Solicitors Jeannie Burham and Louise Bottem -Mark Dodge’s Music Booth setup & takedown crews -Vendor Tender Chair Jeanine Borree and the Vendor Tenders -The Chauffeurs -Joan Pennewell and her Children’s Booth Crew -Hallie Price – our credit card person and My Booth Tender -Elaine Iodice, who took care of receiving prospectuses until I returned in May -and anyone else I forgot! So much for ABB 2006! It was a success, if we are to believe our patrons and vendors. Many comments about the quality of artisans, organization, ease of movement, the great music; they loved the shuttle drivers and booth sitters – all in all – a great show for patrons & vendors. Best ever! I finally worked out the configuration of booths on the grass so patrons saw every booth (don’t know why that was so hard to do!) We’ll have our wrap-up meeting the end of the month, where we weigh the suggestions, etc. Next year it’s time for new signs and to decide how to involve the 50% of our members who do not share the workload, for whatever reason. Artsy Music that Never Stops
Starting at 10:00 am each day, experience some of the best
local and regional performers on our stage. New this year is Mockingbird,
appearing on Saturday, July 15th from 1:00 to 3:00 PM. Mockingbird is an acappela
trio who have been delighting audiences throughout the Pacific Northwest
for over eight years. Brewing their own songs, both humorous and
heartfelt, about motherhood, coffee, rain, relatives,

Art by the Bay has been lucky to have lots of great stuff to eat and drink every year, and excellent variety. The artists especially love it, since they can't get away, but they can still eat something different each meal. And for the visitors to our humble festival, it's great too - everyone in the family will be sure to find something good to munch. Click here to see a list of food vendors.
